- Round 1: 6 single crochets inside the ring. Finish with a slip stitch into the first single crochet.
-
Round 2: 3 chains (count as 1 double crochet) + 1 chain + 1 double crochet + 2 chains, all in the same stitch. Repeat the sequence [1 double crochet + 1 chain + 1 double crochet + 2 chains] in each stitch.
You will have 6 groups of “2 double crochets + 2 chains”.
Finish with a slip stitch into the 3rd starting chain.
🕷️ Forming the spiderweb
- Round 3: In each space between the 2 double crochets of the previous round, crochet: 1 double crochet + 1 chain + 1 double crochet + 4 chains in the same space (the 1st double crochet consists of the 3 turning chains)
- Round 4: In each space between the 2 double crochets of the previous round, crochet: 1 double crochet + 1 chain + 1 double crochet + 6 chains, all in the same space.
- Round 5: In each space between the 2 double crochets of the previous round, crochet: 1 double crochet + 1 chain + 1 double crochet + 8 chains, all in the same space.
- Round 6: In each space between the 2 double crochets of the previous round, crochet: 1 single crochet, 3 chains, 1 single crochet. Then crochet 8 single crochets over the 8 chains from the previous round. Repeat the steps to the end of the round.
Finish with a slip stitch and hide the yarn end.
🌿 Finishing touch
- Block the coaster with steam so it lies flat.
- For more stiffness, lightly spray with fabric stiffener or textile starch.
- Combine several colors (white, gray, black, gold) for a modern, elegant set.
💗 Idealium tips
- Use white or silver thread on dark tablecloths to make the design stand out.
- You can hang several as decoration or join them with thin cord to make a garland.
- If you use golden or mustard Rubi Macramé, you’ll get a more elegant, neutral version.
🌸 Final result
A decorative, sturdy, textured coaster that combines the handcrafted look of crochet with a nature-inspired design.
Perfect for Halloween, autumn, or as a handmade touch in your home.
