Materials for this pattern
- Rubí Alma yarn: 6 skeins
- Knitting needles: 5 mm
- Accessories: tape to hold the fringes, sewing needle and thread in the same color
Finished measurements
- Size: M
- Approximate length: 62–65 cm (excluding fringes)
Step-by-step pattern
Front
Knit all sts in stockinette stitch.
Cast on 70 sts. At 27 cm, begin shaping the shoulder. Decrease 1-1-1-2-3-4-4-4 sts on both sides. At 31 cm, begin shaping the neck: bind off the central 7 sts, then 3-3-2-1 sts; finish one side and then the other.
Back
Cast on 70 sts. Knit the length and shape the shoulders as for the front, then bind off all the sts straight across at once. Sew one side, then pick up the required sts around the neck opening to make the collar, which will be 20 cm long. Bind off the sts and sew the collar and the shoulder to the other side. Fold the collar over and sew it in the round.
The cord-style fringes are 40 cm long. They are sewn onto the poncho, and a trim tape is attached on the inside to hold them in place.
Finishing
- Weave in the ends with a tapestry needle.
- Gently block the poncho so that it keeps its shape.
💡 Tips
- If you prefer a larger size, add cast-on stitches and increase the length.
- You can customize the fringes using coordinating colors.
- The collar can also be knitted in garter stitch for a more structured finish.
