Final measurements
- Size: M
- Approximate length: 62–65 cm (excluding fringe)
Step-by-step pattern
Front
All p. right jersey.
Cast on 70 stitches. At 27cm, begin shaping the shoulder. Decrease 1-1-1-2-3-4-4-4 on both sides. At 31cm, begin shaping the neck: 7 center stitches, then 3-3-2-1. Finish one side and then the other.
Back
Cast on 70 stitches for the shoulder length and shape, just like the front, and then bind off all the straight stitches at once. Sew one side seam, and from the neck opening, pick up the necessary stitches to make the collar, which will be 20cm long. Bind off these stitches and sew the collar and shoulder to the other side seam. Fold the collar over and sew it in the round.
The cord-style fringe is 40cm long. It is sewn onto the poncho and secured with a ribbon trim inside.
Finishes
- Finish off the ends with a tapestry needle.
- Gently block to help the poncho maintain its shape.
💡 Tips
- If you prefer a larger size, add starting points and increase the length.
- You can customize the fringes using combined colors.
- The collar can also be knitted in garter stitch for a more structured finish.
