Step-by-step instructions
👻 Ghost (knit in a spiral or flat)
- Magic ring with 6 sc .
- Round 1: 2 sc in each stitch → (12 sc).
- Round 2: 1 sc, 1 inc , repeat → (18 sc).
- Round 3: 2 sc, 1 inc , repeat → (24 sc).
(You will have a flat circle that will form the top of the ghost's head.)
Body
-
Rounds 4–6: 1 sc in each stitch → (24 sc).
This gives height and cylindrical shape to the head. - Round 7: 3 sc, 1 dec , repeat → (20 sc).
- Round 8: 2 sc, 1 dec , repeat → (15 sc).
- Row 9: change to dc and crochet 15 dc → form the wide, wavy base of the body.
- Repeat as many rows as you wish for the length of the body.
Bottom edge (wavy)
- On the next round, knit
[1 sc, 1 dc, 1 dc, 1 dc, 1 dc, 1 sc — all in the same stitch —, skip 2 stitches] , and repeat this sequence all the way around.
→ This creates the “waves” on the edge of the ghost.
Close with sl st, cut the thread and hide the yarn.
Little face
- With black thread, embroider or knit the eyes directly onto the head:
- Option 1 (embroidery): make two dots or small lines.
- Option 2 (fabric):
- Make a magic ring with 5 sc (left eye).
- Close and repeat for the right side.
- Sew or glue both with a wool needle.
- You can add a small smile or open mouth with a simple stitch.
Assembling the garland
- Cut a long rope of the desired length (e.g. 1.5 m for 6–8 ghosts).
- Using the same Rubi Macramé or fine thread, sew or knot the ghosts at the top (just above the head).
- Leave about 10–12 cm of separation between each one.
- Finish the ends with a decorative knot or bow.
Idealium Tips
- If you want a warmer effect, you can alternate white ghosts with mini pumpkins in mustard or camel (using the same basic circular pattern but without the waves).
- For a touch of light, string a string of LED lights between the ghosts.
- You can also add some macrame or tassels to the ends.
Bottom line
An adorable, handcrafted and modern garland, woven with the shine of Rubi Macramé .
Ideal for decorating your home for Halloween, parties, or creative spaces.
