💚 Step-by-step instructions
🔸 Base
- Work 20 chain stitches + 2 more to turn (these 2 do not count as a stitch).
🔸 Round 1
- 1 double crochet in the 3rd chain stitch from the hook,
- 1 double crochet in each chain stitch to the end.
→ 20 double crochet stitches.
Turn.
🔸 Round 2
- 2 chain stitches (equivalent to 1 double crochet).
-
1 double crochet, 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch. Repeat around.
→ Finish with 1 double crochet in the last stitch.
Turn.
(This is the round that creates the openwork.)
🔸 Round 3
- 2 chain stitches.
- 1 double crochet in each stitch and each chain space from the previous round.
→ One double crochet round.
Turn.
🔸 Repeat the pattern:
Repeat rounds 2 and 3 until reaching 100 cm (or the desired length).
Always finish with a double crochet round so it lies flat.
🔸 Final border
- Crochet 1 round of single crochet (sc) around the entire edge of the table runner.
- At the corners, crochet 3 single crochets together so they do not curl.
- If desired, add a final round of slip stitches (sl st) for a clean finish.
Optional: two-color version
Crochet the first 3 rounds and the last 3 rounds in a second color (for example, sand or ecru), leaving the central section moss green.
Idealium tips
- Lightly block the piece by hand when finished so it lies flat.
- If you want to make it longer, add repeats of the motif (each motif takes 2 rounds).
- If you prefer it narrower, reduce the initial chain proportionally (use multiples of 2 + 2).
- This pattern can also easily be adapted for individual placemats or a dresser runner.
Final result
A handcrafted table runner with texture and openwork that conveys the natural charm of Trapillo Terra.
Ideal for dining tables, sideboards, or as decoration on light or natural wood.
