Invisible seams: joints that cannot be seen

Invisible seam: how to join pieces without the seam being visible

Joining pieces

When we are knitting a project, it is very common to find two or more pieces that we need to join. Depending on the design or pattern, sometimes the seam itself is decorative and we do not intend to hide it, but other times we want to join the pieces without the join being visible. There are ways to join the pieces that we have knitted separately without any joining seam being visible. In this case, I am going to show you a very simple invisible seam in which neither the thread with which we have sewn them nor the seam itself can be seen.

To join two pieces you will need:

- Wool needle

- Thread (three times longer than the section we want to sew)

The thread can be any, but I advise you that if it is not from the same ball with which the pieces are woven, it should at least be of similar thickness. Follow these steps and the seam will be completely hidden between the pieces:

1) Place the two pieces to be joined side by side. The right side of the piece faces up, and the wrong side faces down.
Insert the needle through the first hole on the left that we want to join
from bottom to top .
Leave a strand of approximately 15 cm below and tie it to the fabric for safety.

2) Pass the needle through the first hole on the right from bottom to top .

3) On the left side:

A- Insert the needle through the last hole where the thread comes out from top to bottom.

B- Pull the needle from bottom to top through the next hole.

4) On the right side: repeat step 3.

5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until sewing is finished.

6) Pull the thread (without pulling it too tightly, so that the fabric remains in its natural tension).

7) Knot the excess thread and cut.

And that's it! The area joined by the seam is not visible.
