It's important to check your swatch. If your knitting is tighter or looser, you can try a larger or smaller needle size to adjust the swatch.
Step-by-step pattern
Body · Side 1
- Crochet 4.0 mm: 76/82/86/90 chains .
- Change to the 3.0 mm hook and knit back and forth :
- Elastic edges: 4 single crochet stitches at each end; the edge stitch (the outermost one) is always completed , and the other 3 sc through the back loop .
- Central zone: midpoints → 68/74/78/82 pm .
- Repeat elastic + pm + elastic 10/12/13/15 rounds .
Neck + Back
- Locate the center of the fabric. There are 38/41/43/45 stitches left on either side of the center (for reference).
- To open the neck, from the center to the back we will leave 3 stitches unknitted .
- First back row: elastic + 31/34/36/38 pm , turn and return (we knit the half stitches + elastic ).
- Knit the back like this for 7/7/8/8 rows .
Note: when the row starts in pm , make 1 chain in height that does not count as a stitch .
Body · Side 2
- With the crochet hook placed in the corner of the neck , add chains to recover the initial length: 41/44/46/48 (remember to add them with a 4mm needle).
- Knit the other side the same as the first ( elastic + pm + elastic ) for 10/12/13/15 rows .
Side and armhole closure
- Sew the sides with sl st , leaving armholes of 14/17/18/19 stitches unsewn (on each side).
- Therefore, 24/24/25/26 stitches are sewn on each side and the remaining space is the armhole.
Sleeves
- From the armhole, work the remaining unbound stitches back and forth : 28/34/36/38 stitches for 10/12/13/15 rows . You can work flat and then join with a slip stitch, or join each row with a slip stitch from the last stitch to the first and turn.
-
Elastic cuff (in single crochet):
- Chain 4 , crochet 1 round of sc (with 1 chain in height at the end).
- On the way down , join to the sleeve with 3 sl st at the base; turn.
- Go back over the strip with 4 sc ( 3 per back loop + 1 full edge loop ).
- From the 2nd round onwards, always through the back loop except for the edge stitch (which is always complete).
- Repeat , joining each lowered row with 3 sl sts until you reach the cuff. Close the rib with a slip stitch.
U-shaped elastic interior (front + neck)
- Work the same as the cuff (strips of 4 sc , back loop + full edge), but joining to the body with 2 sl st (not 3) on each lowering stitch.
- Continue until you have completed the entire inverted U (front – neck – front). Close with a sl st .
Finishing and care
- Hide strands on the wrong side following the direction of the stitches.
- Washing: Machine washable (max 30ºC).
- Drying : dry horizontally (do not use a dryer).
